SPAN is an architecture studio in Los Angeles. Exposed concrete, natural light, and the space between the two. Since 2016.

We do not draw objects. We calibrate distances: between slabs, between walls, between the street and the silence. The rest is structure.
Every project begins as a single continuous line: walls, openings, the path of the sun. The plan is the first promise.
"Concrete holds the whole day. At night, it gives a little of it back."
Structures. SCI-Arc, 2009. Draws what holds it up first.
Daylight and comfort. Measures the sun before measuring the site.
Construction coordination. Turns the drawing into a schedule.
Every study begins with the sun's path, not the plan.
What holds the building up stays in view. Concrete stays exposed.
Opening up is harder than closing off. We prefer the harder thing.
